Keonepoko Pre-Plus Child Care
In July 2009, with the addition of the Keonepoko Pre-Plus site, PACT became a statewide organization. The Keonepoko Pre-Plus site is the second of its kind in the PACT family of programs. In 2002, we opened our first Pre-Plus site at Fern Elementary School. The Pre-Plus program was initiated in Hawaii by the then Lieutenant Governor, Mazie Hirono. |
| Pre-Plus is a public-private partnership to develop and build preschool facilities on public elementary school campuses and contract private preschool providers to operate them. Pre-Plus has expanded access to affordable and high-quality early childhood education for three to four year old children from low-income families across the State. As with our Pre-Plus site at Fern Elementary School, the Keonepoko Pre-Plus classroom is licensed by the Department of Humans services for 20 children ages three to five years old. |
The philosophy of Pre-Plus is in alignment with PACT’s philosophy, that all of Hawai`i’s children should have the opportunity to attend a quality early childhood education program. With a positive preschool experience, the children will be healthy, curious, socially aware, and READY to start Kindergarten with their classmates.
The Fern and Keoneopoko Pre-Plus sites provide the following:
Center based child care between 7:30a – 4:00p
Nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack that meets Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines
Healthy, non-violent and safe indoor and outdoor learning environments.
Early Education activities utilizing a one-on-one or small group model.
Opportunities for interactive educational activities for adults and children that are facilitated by center staff for children three to age five and their parents or caregivers.
We are extremely delighted that with the addition of Keonepoko, we have attained one of the goals outlined in PACT’s 5 Year Strategic Plan, that being to establish the organization as a statewide entity. We are also excited to play a greater role in ensuring quality early learning experiences for children throughout Hawaii. For more information please contact 808-965-9180.
